On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum will host a unique, pioneering musical concert event in the city of Plantation — Reggae Genealogy.
With live music, DJs, dance, narration, video elements and celebrity cameos, the audiovisual journey will take attendees through native mento, ska, Nyabinghi, rocksteady, lover’s rock, dub, reggae and dancehall, ending with an odyssey through Jamaican musical influence on hip hop, reggaeton, EDM and Afrobeats.
Reggae music icons will receive lifetime achievement awards.
* No smoking, alcohol, drugs, marijuana or violence. All persons entering the event will be searched.
Pre-Event Panel Discussion
Two weeks ahead of the 2nd annual iconic Reggae Genealogy music festival, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum will welcome a panel of reggae music industry personalities to discuss the topic of “The Gentrification of Jamaican Music.” The panel will take place on Saturday, January 18, from 5-8 p.m. at the museum, located inside the northeast entrance to the Broward Mall in the city of Plantation. Opinions will be shared by Ian Lewis of Inner Circle, Grammy Award-winning producer Jason “J-Vibe” Farmer, Vice President of Sales at VP Records Aaron Talbert, selector and entrepreneur Supa Twitch, and dancehall diva and influencer Tifa, moderated by radio personality G Cole of the podcast Homegrown with G Cole. Tickets are available for $15 pre-sold or $20 at the door at reggaegenealogy.org/panel2025.
